![]() It's certainly okay to not like it but the general public considers it to be an above average franchise. FO4 is clearly trying to be FO:UC even though it does fall short. They just made a really REALLY cheap car game. Team6 didn't even try to make a flatout game. They didn't have the rights after the 2nd game. ![]() Selling the rights and losing the rights = no important difference. Lastly, TDU1 was a very ambitious game, TDU2 was a flop because Atari was on it's last leg but the first game was definitely NOT a low budget title. Second, WRC is a licensed franchise and while it might've gotten better it's still bottom of the barrel, Kylotonn can not / will not make good racing games. They did the same thing with V-Rally 4, that's what shovelware companies do, they buy beloved franchises, put together a game in 2-months and then profit off he handful of copies it sells before people realize it's garbage, then repeat. As for Kylotonn, I don't know what you mean by "best of a bad situation" since all they did was buy the rights to a beloved franchise just to release a lazy cash grab of it on Steam for $60, it's no different than what Team6 did with Flatout 3. They sold the rights to Flatout because they couldn't find a publisher and they needed the money. Kylotonn has a real shot at matching TDU level expectations.įirst of all chief, Bigbear didn't lose anything. V-Rally isn't bad, it's just mediocre and let's face it, TDU is not known for high production values. It wasn't on par with those first 2 masterpieces but it would be unfair to expect them to match that quality with a franchise they hadn't worked on. Kylotonn took on a franchise they haven't worked with and did a pretty okay job. Some other budget developer picked it up and made the abomination that was Flatout 3. ![]() Bugbear lost the rights to the franchise after the second game. On top of that Kylotonn made the best of a bad situation with Flatout 4. Kylotonn makes the WRC series as well which has been getting better reviews with every release. ![]() For one TDU2 had gambling, just not with real money. I pray they’re skippable.Originally posted by Usmovers_02:Nah there's definitely hope here. If the driving experience is satisfying enough, maybe it’ll compel me to try my hardest to play the game while also donning blinders for every cutscene. The game’s creative director, Alain Jarniou (who also led TDU and TDU2’s development) has said the physics are derived from Kylotonn’s WRC series, and those games handle pretty nicely. The description on the game’s Steam page warns “remember, social status is everything in the world of TDU.” Actually, that reads more like a threat.Īt least TDU Solar Crown looks to be based on a sound foundation, mechanically speaking. Without gameplay it’s hard to tell if the tone will differ at all, but I suspect not. TDU Solar Crown - Solar Crown being the name of the aforementioned street racing competition - doesn’t appear to revitalize the series in a different context. I came here to cruise around Hawaii in nice cars, why can’t all these pigs leave me the hell alone? Either way, I wanted to punch every single one in the face when I played TDU2 back in the day, and now I feel a migraine coming on merely imagining returning to that world. Personally, I was never quite sure if the developers intended me to laugh at these people or want to be them.
